Oh Tanenbaum

So I have not put up a christmas tree in years.
I always do festival and am too burned out to do my own.
I decided that this year would be different.

So I went shopping and picked out the perfect tree.
I spend a lot of time looking at trees.
It's a compulsion, eveytime I go into a store that sells trees I have to take a quick peek.
Like I said, lots of trees.

So I found one on sell a few weeks ago and it was perfect.
So Todd went out and got it for me.
And he set it up.

And there it sat for nearly three weeks unitl I had time to decorate it.

I wanted to do somthing different,
something fun,
something us.

So I finally finished, and here it is.........

Confession

So I found this book in a park city boutique a few months ago with my sisters and fell in love.

I love the art work.

I love the story.

And……

I Love, Love, Love, that there is a bite taken out of the back cover.

So, the being an adult who is in love with a children’s book is not the part that I am confessing here.

It’s the fact, that for a nano second, I seriously considered having a child just so I would also have a reason to buy this book.

I wonder what Dr. Spock would think about that?

So this my newest interest,
an artist named Tim Walker.
I just love his images,
whimsical and slightly
haunting.

Ok, so I go into starbucks the other day to get a caramel apple cider (highly recommended if you have never tried one) and the girl behind the counter asks me what size and I say medium and she says “No tall, grandi, vinti, or short?” and I say medium and she looks at me like I am the dumbest person on the planet and I have suddenly stoped speaking English and started communicating in Swahili. Now here is the thing, I don’t want to be judgmental here but I really don’t think that the girl working at starbucks for $6.55 an hour is really qualified to look at most starbucks customers like they are stupid. Secondly half of these options are in English one is in Italian, and one is in French. Who writes up a menu in three different languages? That makes no sense. Third, the word vinti is not even a size in Italian, it means outclassed. Now does that mean that starbucks is trying to outclass me by thinking I am stupid enough to begin using a work that does not even make sense, or that I have out classed others by being willing to pay $4.73 for a cup of coffee I could have picked up at maverick for 89 cents? Fourth Grande means tall in French so which on is bigger? A tall or a grande? Fifth, a little research has reviled that the word vinti has been copyrighted by starbucks. Who coprights a word from another language?

So I have decided that I am on strike from the stupid starbucks vocabulary, I refuse to learn new words just to order a cup of coffee. And and since doing so have learned that I am not the only one. I did a google search on this and found 10,600,000 matchs for vinti. Most of which are other people like me complaining about how stupid this whole thing is.

So after my whole rant and new personal strike I walk into Jamba Juice today and look at their size chart only to discover that the sizes there are 16 oz, original, and power. What the hell people!

My Husband Ladies and Gentlemen

Todd: "So I have a 39 percent chance of defeating a Velociraptor if I am armed with a baseball bat."

Amy: "That’s a very specific number, where does one aquire such knowlage."

Todd: "I took a quiz online."

Amy: "Good to know."

Believe

So I'm a bit on an NPR nut, and one of my favorite things that they do on NPR is their collection of
This I Believe essays. I don't really want to write an entire essay cuz I just stepped out of being an English teacher but here is my This I Believe list.

That I write to understand as much as to be understood
That "bad" feelings tells us very important things
That accountability is the key to control in my life, and that I have more control than I think
That creating does something vital for the soul
That your attitude is sometimes the only card to play, you just gotta remember to play it
That the most important thing that I will ever learn is to shut my mouth
That the ability to read is a super power
That the purpose of life is to gain experience
That belief its self holds power

Maybe it's because they are the same distance
apart as Emily and I but there is something
about these two that holds a special place in my
heart.

Dream Home

Ok, so I know that it is more than a little crazy but I really want to live in a storage container. Now before you write me off as a total nut case you have to check out these new lofts they are building downtown out of storage containers. I really want one. Now all I have to do is talk Todd in to it.

Check it out at http://www.citycenterlofts.net/
